Most nail salons start a pedicure by soaking your feet in warm water to soften the skin before working on it. The problem with soaking is twofold. First, water-softened skin is harder to work with precisely — callus removal becomes less controlled and cuticle work loses definition. Second, and more importantly, soak basins are difficult to fully sterilise between clients, making them a hygiene concern that most salons don't talk about.
Dry pedicure skips the soak entirely. Every tool used at My Beauty Space is sterilised between appointments, and because there's no shared water involved, the service is significantly more hygienic than a traditional pedicure. The results also last considerably longer — clients who switch from water-based pedicures often notice that the rough skin that used to come back within days takes weeks to return, and comes back less severely. Dry technique removes dead skin more precisely without triggering the skin's defence response that a harsh soak can cause.
Choose your finish
Every Ukrainian dry pedicure starts with the same thorough dry prep — cuticle work, nail shaping, and surface care. What changes is the finish:
No Polish — Cuticle work, shaping, and a clean natural finish. A clear polish can be applied on request. The right choice for clients who prefer bare nails or are maintaining between colour sets.
Regular Polish — Traditional nail polish applied over dry-prepped nails. Because the prep is done with an e-file first, the polish sits closer to the cuticle line for a cleaner finish. The practical choice during closed shoe season when you want a neat result without the commitment of gel.
Gel Polish — Gel polish applied over properly prepped nails for a glossy, chip-resistant finish. Recommended for up to 4 weeks of wear — at which point a removal and a fresh application is advised to maintain nail health.
